Rakyat Malaysia Antara Yang Paling Mementingkan Diri Sendiri di Dunia!!!

Thursday, December 17, 2015

Kalau betul kenapa? Sentap ker? Chill lah. Ni bukan saya yang kata. Jangan kecam saya plak yer. Baca dulu kalau nak tahu kisahnya.

Meh baca:

Christmas is just around the corner and a new survey conducted by Groupon reveals that Malaysians are less generous compared to their closest neighbours during the season of ‘giving’. The Global research found almost two in three (62%) of Malaysians feel more excited about receiving gifts than giving, in contrast to Singaporeans and Indonesians who prefer giving gifts.

Malaysians are one of the highest practitioners of self-gifting globally - only lagging behind South America by a fraction - with 87% of Malaysians owning up to the ritual of buying themselves a gift during the Holiday period to ensure they get what they want.

Nikhil Khandelwal, Groupon’s Head of Planning and Chief Authority on Self-Gifting is overwhelmed with joy to learn so many Malaysians love to self-gift. “We have created a special self-gifting shop this year, specifically aimed at people wanting to treat themselves this Holiday season. Our customers will be able to discover a wide range of ‘self-love’ gifts which we know they’re going to enjoy,” he said.

On the flip side, if you happen to belong to the 38.1% of kind-hearted Malaysian souls who love giving, Groupon also has you covered this giving season! Gifting can be hard - made even harder with 7 out of 10 Malaysians admitting they don’t reveal their wish list but with the help of the Malaysian survey respondents, Groupon has created a gift guide based on what people said they want most this festive season:

Send your loved one on a staycation

1.  Giving someone a weekend stay at a nice hotel would be the safest choice, as more than 6 out of 10 Malaysians responded that a weekend getaway would be the ideal Christmas gift. This is also in line with another finding that people prefer an experience over a product as a gift – and they are more likely to remember it too! After all, memories do not have a shelf life.

A delicious meal with family does the trick

2.  The survey also revealed that people prefer spending quality time together as a family during the festive season, and having a family meal stood out as the most favorable activity (7 out of 10 Malaysians). So a delicious, warm and comforting meal shared with the family is another great choice as a gift!

Spoil someone with a relaxing spa day

3.   In line with the experiences over products finding, alternately, a day of full pampering at the spa could be the ideal gift, according to 4 out of 10 Malaysians. This could be indicative of the modern professional lifestyle that is time-starved, leaving them longing for a relaxing experience.

Malaysians love tech gadgets

4.   Still afraid of not being able to get that perfect gift? Tech gadgets are another safe bet with 46% of Malaysians revealing they’d be pleased to receive the latest smartphones or gadgets as gifts this holiday season.

Gift vouchers are great

5.   Finally, if you’re really certain that all of the above still doesn’t cut it as the ultimate gift, consider gift vouchers. Gift vouchers are perfectly acceptable according to nearly half of Malaysians; who would prefer to receive a Gift Card instead of getting something they didn’t want.

About the Research

Data was collected from 22,055 respondents across 19 countries in APAC, EMEA and LATAM. Of this, 6,366 respondents were from APAC and 1,342 were from Australia, 1,071 from Malaysia, 1,160 from Singapore, 160 from Hong Kong, 1,174 from Japan and 1,459 from Indonesia. Surveys were sent electronically to subscribers of Groupon.

Fieldwork was conducted online between the 4th and the 24th of November 2015.
